Nicole Thalheimer, PsyD

Psychologist

Nicole has been passionate about helping folks her entire life. Be it volunteering, mentoring, or through her role as a clinical psychologist, she enjoys working with, connecting to, and building rapport with people. She approaches her work through an integrated lens of meeting people where they are at, while being grounded in a systems perspective. Working collaboratively with other provider’s from a team approach allows for the best possible member care. Creativity, flexibility, and when appropriate, humor are cornerstones of the work Nicole does with members.

Nicole has worked in several clinical settings including private practices, community mental health centers, and college counseling centers. She has supervised students in training and worked with children, adults, couples, and families. Nicole brings more than a decade of experience working with the LGBTQ+ community to her role with Crossover, having covered topics such as sexual orientation, identity development, and gender identity. She uses ACT tools as well as relational/interpersonal techniques to best adapt to the needs of members.

Nicole grew up in a combination of Chicago and Boston; while also having lived abroad more than once. She enjoys hiking, traveling, and kayaking. She has been a bookworm and an animal lover her whole life, and she loves all things Broadway. Spending time with her family, friends, and pup are top priorities outside of work.

What makes me unique

Ever since I was a child, my friends always sought me out for support or advice. It made me realize what this is what I am meant to do as a profession! My ability to put others at ease, make them feel comfortable, and make them laugh is unique. Coupled with my outgoing nature and love of helping others, being a clinical psychologist fits my personality well.

Why I practice healthcare

There is nothing more exciting to me than connecting with another person, regardless of any differences that may be present. I have worked in international settings where connection occurred and change happened. Working with folks to uncover their own skills and potential keeps me actively engaged. I have always loved the applicability of this work; the fact that I can learn a new skill in a training or continuing education class and be able to apply it in a session, has always been a motivator for me. The opportunity to work on a team of providers has me excited for this wonderful opportunity!
