Arti Sarma, PhD, LP

Licensed Virtualist Psychologist

Arti loves the collaborative process of learning and growth that naturally unfolds in therapy. Witnessing her patients experience those “aha moments” makes every moment of the training and education she sought out worth it. She personally finds that being able to provide people with tools to improve their lives, enhance their relationships, gain better health, and find more inner peace is deeply fulfilling.

Arti earned a BA from Mount Holyoke College, and both her MA and PhD from Arizona State University. She completed her post-doctoral residency at Arizona State University as well, with a focus on Training & Administration. She utilizes multiple modalities in her practice including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

She loves tasting foods from different cultures, so potlucks are a favorite past time. She also enjoys Monopoly marathons with her family, game nights, karaoke, walks in nature, mindfulness meditation, and all forms of music and dance. Always a student, Arti loves learning new things, and trying out things like painting classes, cooking new recipes she finds online, and doing DIY furniture refinishing projects at home. Traveling is a passion, and future goals include learning to speak Spanish and Hindi.

My background as an Indian American has helped me understand unique perspectives related to navigating a bicultural identity. I studied abroad in India my junior year of college to re-learn my mother tongue and was fortunate enough to be able to conduct ethnographic research about women’s health during that time. I’m passionate about making a positive impact in the world and take each day as a new opportunity to advance this mission.

I’ve known since childhood that helping people was my life’s mission. Even before becoming a psychologist, I was always the person that everyone came to for advice, support, and feedback. Having learned simple, yet effective, ways people can “upgrade” their quality of life from the inside out, I am blessed with the opportunity to be able to share this knowledge with others.
